Forum page not updating again.

General discussion

Hi,
The forum page is not updating to the current threads again. After looking at a thread and then going back to the main page it is showing threads from several hours ago one time and the correct threads another. Figured i would mention this in case nobody has been notified to fix it. 8)
If you say it can`t be done then i`ll try it

Hello,
i realize the same. F5 sometimes works and sometimes there is a thread on top that is up to 24 hours old instead showing the one posted 2 minutes ago.

I've been seeing this since yesterday. I sent in an email to fissues, but I haven't heard anything back yet. I'll update this post if I do.
EDIT: The individual forum RSS feeds appear to be staying up to date, that's how I've been checking for new threads when the web interface isn't playing along.

I have same problem and tried two different browsers.
Usually refresh does not fix it. Sometimes logging off and logging back on will show the updated threads.
In fact, I didn't see this thread until after a logoff/logon.

Interesting, refreshing does work for me (granted, I do have to refresh anywhere between two and two dozen times though).
Hopefully this gets sorted out soon.
EDIT: ITCG does seem to take more refreshes than other forums though. I'm not sure why that would be (or if that really is the case), but it just took me about 10 refreshes to see the latest threads.

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies. I was starting to think it may have just been something on my end. 8)
This happened about a month ago on the VB forum and was fixed within a day or two so, hopefully it will only take a day or two again, although it has been two or three days as of today. 8(

Still not solved. Sometimes all threads are there, sometimes they are gone no matter how often i refresh. Today there are at least 10 threads missing and already marked threads appear as unmarked.

I'm seeing the same here. F5 sometimes will bring the current view back. Also moves may be at risk. I moved a couple posts yesterday. They're gone from original location but never showed at destination.

The problem is still happening for me. No response from fissues@microsoft.com either.

Same here. The RSS feeds still seem to be current though.

Yea, its all messed up. Threads are missing, The rite threads showing one time but not the next, Going forward and backward through the pages is showing random results one time and working the next. The results also seem about the same using Refresh, works one time but, not the next.
As Mike has said, and i was told the last time this happened was, the RSS Feed still seems to work. I haven`t tried it, i figure i will just wait for it to get fixed like i did the last time.
If you say it can`t be done then i`ll try it

I think threads are not missing but the sort and or filters are unstable right now for some reason.

I've been facing this for 3 days now. Each refresh brings a different sortig of threads which is not including recent ones. Even ones which are shown are having obsolete dates ie last post shown as old one though actual thread has lots of recent posts that it.

I hope someone from Microsoft Support can provide update on this issue. It is definitely not acceptable in any forums to load random outdated data to their users for so long (more than 4 days?) . The web servers that are hosting these forums are experiencing problems that are really detriment to Microsoft image in front of our developers.

I'm wondering if it is related to spam control. E.g. yesterday for category W8.1 IT Pro I noticed that General was showing signs of spam and at the same time I was seeing the missing threads symptom (or incorrect Last Reply timestamp if that is the more correct interpretation of what we are seeing.) Anyway, removing General from the Selected forums list, i.e, clicking its X, removed the spam and fixed the missing threads symptom for remainder of the category. As well, as has already been noted, using General's RSS feed showed me its true current list without any spam too.
So, I think a plain Refresh and maybe even a Ctrl-F5 may not be enough. It's almost like you need to make a request that is unlikely to be cached anywhere in order for a new response to be generated with the latest data.

will those types of issues with the forum ever fixed ?
it is frustrating to see this issues coming up every few weeks (or less) again.
What I'm even more concerned about is that there's no real feedback from MSFT about status/quality of the forum software and therefore seems not really be interested in pushing the support users by other users.

Additionally to the “Forum doesn’t update correctly” (one has to refresh several times to see the difference) some threads will never show up.
I have one posted at “Where is the Forum For…?” but it will never show up at the listing, though it’s listed at “My threads”.
However, with several “page refresh” with the same sort order “Most recent post” the listing changes (randomly?) but my own posting is never listed.
It seems to me that the issue is connected to the “Ask a question” and the “Start a discussion” thread type.
Are the Forums using a Microsoft software???
Is anybody working to solve that problem?
Isn’t that worth an “Announcement for all Forums”?

IronRazerz,
For your information, you are not the only one who have issues,

Yea, i know. I have talked with a few of the other VB forum contributors and it is a problem for everyone. As i said, i emailed fissues and told them that the problem is rendering the forums as useless. It is the same problem we had a few weeks ago too. 8)If you say it can`t be done then i`ll try it

Yea, it really is getting to be a pain in the a**!!!! I have only been a steady contributor on the VB forum for about a year or a little more and it seems like ever since they changed the whole forum around this last time it has had a problem at least once a month. 8(If you say it can`t be done then i`ll try it

Looks like the main thread stream is updating normally again. I posted in a test thread and I saw it at the top of the list immediately.
We'll see how long that lasts.
EDIT: Here's a link to my test thread if anyone ever wants to test for themselves without creating a new thread:

@ Mike,
I received a reply back from them last night and they requested a Link to the forum and a screenshot of the page so, i sent that info to them last night. However, i sent them another email this morning to let them know that the current threads are being updated correctly again but, i noticed that one or two threads that i replied to yesterday are still not showing in the main forum page. They are listed in My Threads but, not on the main page of the forum. So, as you said, we will see if this lasts or not. 8)
