  • Did you run DISM to repair?  (instructions for which at the end of this wiki)

What is the underlying issue that prompted you to run SFC?

Please run a system file check (SFC) & DISM  if you are on win 8 or higher

All instructions are in our Wiki article below...Should you have any questions please ask us.

  • Hello,
My current system is V1511 Build 10568.218
After I'd first time run SFC with an error, I run Dism and gave me 0x800f081f error.
At this point I run DISM/Online/Cleanup-Image/RestoreHealth/source:WIM:I:\sources\Install.wim:1/LimitAccess(from Windows ISO 10586.3) and did not give me the most error.

I restarted the system and run Sfc but unfortunately I get this error.

I checked between the app installed with Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers, but Windows Journal does not appear in the list!

    Thank You

  • Windows Journal is a Desktop app, hence will not show in the Get-Appx lists. In the start it is listed under Windows Accessorises, can you run it from there? If not can you run it from its program location C:\Program Files\Windows Journal ?

Can you try with a another user account, do they get this error?

  • It is listed and you can run from Windows Accessories, but do not understand why it always fails in SFC.

    Thank you

  • Your ISO is 10586.3 your running OS 10586.218.  Obviously you have done the cumulative updates to get to .218 and they are not on the Source ISO, hence the failure in sources.

Is there an underlying issue that prompted you to run SFC/DISM?

  • The current installed version of the Journal is 10.0.10011 and error reports the version 10.0.10586.122!

    I just several errors:

  • It is not the version of journal that is important.  Your source ISO is 10586.3 the error is reporting 10586.122  there is obviously files added after 10586.3

Again I am going to ask if there was an underlying issue that prop0ted you to run SFC?

You do realize that the file with the error is an "lnk" file which is a link or shortcut.  Why is it important that a shortcut is broken?

  • The problem is: the Journal link in Windows accessories, refers to C: programdata \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Start Menu \ Programs \ TabletPC and the folder is empty;

while the Windows Journal file is located in c: \ programdata \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Start Menu \ Programs \ Accessories windows \ TabletPC \ Windows Journal

I think there has been since the last update (KB3147458)

  • I have the same error into the sfc log "Cannot repair member file [l:19]"Windows Journal.lnk" of Microsoft-Windows-TabletPC-Journal, version 10.0.10586.306".

This error occours after installation of windows update KB3163018.

    Dism /online /clenaup-image /restorehealth doesn't repair it.

Microsoft, please make a fix for this error.

    Thanks
