SBS 2011 - Desktop Folder Redirection RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a single user (on a Windows 7 machine) who is having issues with desktop redirection.

All other users on the domain have the rule being applied properly but for one user, when we go to his share, the desktop folder/information is not there. I'm not too familiar with sbs2011 or folder redirection, what is the best way to start looking in to resolving this issue? I know there were issues when the server was migrated from 2003 to 2011 with many of the clients still on XP but that has since been resolved. We do have other Win7 machines where this is working properly; and users from the group with the same standard permissions.

  • Look in the application log on the windows 7 machine, after logon it will have errors/warnings about folder redirection and why it is not applying.

Usually it will be access denied to create the redirected folder.

So you might need to create it for them and manually set the permissions, or see if a deny is blocking that user from creating a folder.
