failing to activate publishingresources/creating sitecollection RRS feed

  • Hi,

    Cannot create sitecollection of type "collaboration portal" from central admin. following info is logged to 12 hive logs:
    What i can do is to create for example team site, but activating publishing infrastructure ends up giving the same "trial period has expired"- error

  • ok, for some reason the distributed com- group was empty, problem solved by adding apppool account to that group!

  • Are you running a trial version of sharepoint by any chance?
    You can see what version and the status of your SharePoint farm by looking in Central Administration.

  • Have the exact issue.  1st collaboration portal created fine a few weeks ago, several team sites created recently all worked fine but now cannot create a portal. Get evil "Trial Period Expired" message and this:

    Tried adding application pool acct to DCOM group but had no effect, even tried making it admin - no dice.  Don't know what could have changed to cause this.  Any ideas?

  • That works for me thanks for this tip. i added the apppool account to the distributed comm groups under local grouop users and it worked for me.
