Should i make Computer Browser services start Automatic in my PDC

  • After Upgrading from PDC Server 2003 to Server 2012 I found some problem in the network and some time its not accessible

i use Wireshark to monitor the traffic and i found that some Workstation in my network act as master browser

my PDC server is the only DC in the network and i have only 1 subnet

after a lot of time in Searching i found that Computer  Browser services  is disable in my server

Should i Start it or there are another solution for this problem

I confused because this service is disabled by default by microsoft.

  •   Yes, the computer browser service must be running if you want browsing by Netbios name to work (that is, the old computer browser system which came from Windows NT). This system is being phased out, basically because it simply will not run with IPv6.

If you are using the computer browser service, you also must have Netbios over TCP/IP enabled in the NIC properties. This also may not be enabled by default in modern versions of the server OS.

Incidentally the term PDC is also obsolete. That also comes from NT. These has not been a PDC since Windows 2000 came out. All DCs are equal (in theory at least).
