Old Project Manager does not see more the project on "Project Center" after change. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I would like to change the Project Manager in Project Server 2007 and the old Project Manager does not see more the project on "Project Center", it's possible?
Today, when I change the Project Manager in "Project Center" -> "Edit Project Properties" -> "Owner" the old Project Manager continues seeing the project on "Project Center", even if he does not has tasks alocated to him.

  • What projects a user can see is controlled by the authorization model of project server. Did you make any changes to the OOB security?

The security model is not easy to fully understand. You can find more information here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc768051.aspx

Does the user belong to the Resource Manager group or is he only Project Manager?

The View Project permission is defined on a security category. A security category can be assigned to a User and to a User Group. So you will have to check which groups the user belongs to and which categories are assigned to the groups and the user to understand why the user can still see the project.

BTW: If you change a project manager you must also change the Status Manager on all tasks in the project. Otherwise the old project manager will continue to receive status updates for the tasks in the project.

  • did you verify that you published the update and that the publish job completed in the queue?
Also, you may want to check the permissions / category settings.
