Computer shows as Client=No after not being used for 1 week RRS feed

  • Hi,

    I have been encountering an unusual issue with our CM 2012 console. We have clients that have been reporting as client=yes then after not being connected to the network or being turned-off about a week, they will suddenly report as Client=No. Is there a setting in CM 2012 that causes this?

  • Yes, it is set to Client Rediscovery period(days) to 21 days. Start time is 12:00AM and every Sunday.

  • Why have you enabled that at all?
    The only that changes client=yes to client=no would be that maintenance task. Or 'delete aged discovery data' with an aggressive schedule (how is this configured?) in conjunction with AD system discovery (which would add the record again).

    It was enabled by default I think because I haven't done any alteration in that area. Yes, delete aged discovery data is also enabled and set to delete data that has been inactive for 30days. Start time at 12:00am every Saturday. Would that be any problem?

  • The default value should be ok. Revert back to the default value.

  • Have you enabled the Heartbeat discovery? If not, please enable the setting. If so, the heartbeat discovery data is sent with inventory data. You need to check the log files to see whether the data is sent back to site server and synced into database.
