installation windows xp sp2 or sp3 from local hard disk drive RRS feed

  • Dear Sir!

    I am trying to install windows xp sp3 from my hard drive E: where i have backup of folder i383 having windows installation files. when i run the setup there are two option new installation and upgrade. i chose new installation and when pc restart and reaches the step to choose drive to install windows i select c: but there is no way to format C: but if i use a cd to install windows there is no problem like this. please help me i wana install windows from hard drive using win32.exe but i can't format c: help me for this sir........ thanks a lot.....

    It is not clear, why do you use such a procedure. You will do better to reveal the target configuratuion. 

    I read your letter twice and came to the conclusion, that you are trying to cut a branch you are sitting on. Even if you install operating system on another disk partition, the first partition plays a key role, namely the system starts using files in c:. You cannot see these files as they are hidden!
