VHD from same host and different storage owner it is taking lengthy time to create VHD RRS feed

  • Question

  • why

While creating new VHD from same host and different storage owner it is taking lengthy time to create VHD and if we are creating VHD from same Host/same storage owner its creating very fast.

    Thanks

  • You should read this article: Copying VHDs onto a CSV Disk? Use the Coordinator Node!

Basically, if you're doing any file work from a non-owner node, it will all go through your heartbeat LAN connection. If you do your work from the CSV owner node, it will be significantly faster.

  • Can you please tell us more about your clustering and storage configuration?  Including versions.

  • Hi,

What’s the OS version of your Hyper-V cluster?

Is the Hyper-V cluster using cluster shared volume to store Hyper-V data?

If you are using CSV as share storage, you redirect I/O to other node, the end result may be slower performance (depending on the speed of the network interconnect, for example, 10 GB vs. I GB).

For more information please refer to following MS articles:
