HOW TO BACKUP EXCHANGE SERVER 2012 USING DPM 2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good day.

I am a rookie at DPM 2012 SP1 and I have been assigned a task to backup exchange 2012.

    Our environment is as follows:

    - One DPM 2012 SP1 vm.

    - Exchange : - MBX1 vm

         - MBX2 vm

         - CAS1 vm

         - CAS2 vm

    - One DAG vm

What I have done so far:

    1. Exchange is running perfectly with CU2 updated.

    2. I installed WSB(Windows Server Backup) feature and DPM agents on MBX1, MBX2, CAS1 and CAS2.

    3. Started the following services on MBX1, MBX2, CAS1 and CAS2; - DPMRA

     - VSS

    4. Copied the ese.dll and eseutill.exe from MBX1 to DPM 2012 SP1 server

    5. Created a protection group for exchange.

    Problem:

    1. The mailbox1 database on MBX1 and MBX2 is refusing to be consistent when i run the consistency check.

So i can not even create  a recovery point. My Boss is grilling me at the moment. Please help a brother out.

  • Hi

Are your exchange servers running in a DAG? The services will start fine so you dont need to manually start them.

When you created the group did you select both exchange servers? do you have adequate space on your protection groups?

Is MBX1 active and MBX2 passive?
