Lync 2010 side by side migration to Skype for business 2015 - Edge problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All,

We are performing Lync 2010 side by side migration to S4B 2015, follow the guide for Lync 2010 to 2013.

Front End S4B 2015 is up and running, seems fine.

Now move on to Edge server. But according to the migration guide, 1 of the step is associate the Lync 2010 Front end pool to the new Edge pool (S4B 2015). This is important step to keep external access and federation work during user migration. But I am not sure if it work for Lync 2010.

I would like to know anyone has exprience on that? Will Lync 2010 Front end server able to use S4B Edge server? Any update need to purform on Lync 2010 pool?

We only have 1 Front end standard server and 1 Edge standard server, in both 2010 and 2015 deployment.

    Thanks,
    Roy

  • It will work for your Lync 2010 frontend.

When your Skype4B edge server is running, you'll associate the frontends to the edge pool (for media). Then move public DNS records to new edge server and use the Skype4B edge server for federation traffic.
