How can I create a word or character frequency list from columns with phrases in power query? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm new to using power query, and despite searching the internet I can't find a way to program the two functions that I want.
    1. A function that receives a list of columns as a parameter, and returns a table with two columns: words and occurrences.
    2. A function that receives a list of columns as a parameter, and returns a table with two columns: characters and occurrences.

The columns that I want to pass as parameters contain phrases.

  • Yes, I had seen that.  I said that I wasn't sure if breaking cells into words (and even more characters) and then creating a frequency table was a good approach. I say this because my columns are over a million rows and I get the impression that the computer would have a lot of processing work that way. But maybe I'm wrong.
