Windows 10 Metro Apps Not Working. RRS feed

  • I have had windows 10 since build 9926 in early February of this year. I used build 10074 which was great and I had no problems with it. Once my computer auto updated to build 10130 and beyond I haven't been able to open any metro apps, right clicking for information on an icon or file, opening Cortana, using the start menu, and accessing metro apps is impossible. I also have an issue with Windows Explorer which freezes up often, and sometimes takes forever to load. Can somebody help me explain what's going on and help me find a way to fix it without having to reinstall and lose all of my files and programs? I am currently running build 10159. Another thing that might be helpful to note is that metro apps work on any other account except for my primary account.

  • I would start by running a system file check

    Please run a system file check (SFC) & DISM (if necessary) if you are on win 8 or higher

    That seems to indicate your "primary" account is corrupted.

    Create another user account with exactly the same privileges as your primary account > logon to it > see if everything is working.
    If yes, then my assumption is confirmed.

    If that proves to be the case, backup whatever you want to keep and delete the corrupted account.
