1 MDT 2012 Server serving 2 VLAN? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Okay so i have 2 VLANs,  1 for production and 1 for training environment. I have 1 MDT Server sitting in the production environment, and was wondering if it's possible to have the MDT Server serve the training environment?

The idea is that i'll install Windows Deployment Service into the training environment, and point towards the boot image in the MDT server in production environment. Does this sound even remotely possible?

And by default most ports are blocked between these 2 VLANs so what specific ports are required to enable MDT to serve the training environment?

    Appreciate any helps provided!

  • Hi,

    there are two possible ways:

1 You use a router and connect the two networks

2 Add a second NIC to MDT server and connect it to VLAN 2

In both cases you have to configure the dhcp option pxe server in the training network.
