SCCM 2012 Beta SP1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there anyway to upgrade your current SCCM 2012 lab to the beta of SP1?  I am sure there will be a direct upgrade path when it is RTM, but I was hoping I could build upon in my lab with out starting clean.  Thanks!

  • You can upgrade from ConfigMgr 2012 RTM to SP1 Beta. However if you do this upgrade you won't be able to upgrade from SP1 beta to the regular SP1 release. Since it's a lab this probably isn't a big deal.

  • You can upgrade from ConfigMgr 2012 RTM to SP1 Beta.

As stated in the SP1 beta release notes. this is not supported for open beta customers and you are likely to run into problems:

Upgrading to System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1 Beta Is Not Supported

If you have installed an earlier prerelease version of System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1, uninstall it before you install System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1 Beta. We recommend that you also uninstall and reinstall the operating system after you uninstall earlier versions of Configuration Manager SP1 and before you install this beta version of System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1.

This prerelease version also does not support upgrading from the release version of System Center 2012 Configuration Manager.

In addition, Configuration Manager does not support the import of objects between different versions of Configuration Manager.
