Skype for Business Client doesn't display contacts profile pictures consistently RRS feed

  • Some of SFB clients doesn't display their contacts and user pictures consistently where sometimes it being displayed and some time the picture blank/disappear.

    SFB Client version is Skype for Business 2016 MSO (16.0.4318.1000) 32-bit

    Client machine Office & OS : Office 2007; Windows 7 Pro;

    On-Premise Skype for Business Server 2015.

    Have tried the following but did not resolve the issue permanently:

    1. Manually update the Outlook Address Book(OAB).

    2. Reset Outlook Offline Settings Enable/Disable Cached Exchange Mode; Cleared SFB Client cache on the machine, re-logon;

    3. Remove SFB user profile folder :

    %userprofile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\sip_UserName@Domain.com

    4. Remove user folder (user@domain.com) from the client machine registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync;

  • How do they get the picture , is that automatically populated from AD or does the user have option to change the picture from the options. Is the client policy configured to include photos from AD only ?  More details are listed here

    Yes, if you are using external url for photos. Maybe an authenticating proxy is blocking access to the photos. You would have to bypass the authenticating proxy to access the url's being accessed for end user photos

  • Have checked the replication configuration, LS Address Book Server event work fine and AddressBookConfiguration settings reflected to the time stamp of the synched files in the Lync shared folder at storage pool. The Address Book shared folder at the Lync storage pool also appears the latest. The client config and Address Book Service test (ABS) for internal URL also successful, at server site and also user site. have done the follow troubleshootings:

    1. Verify photo in AD/Code2; 2.Verify User replication configuration in FE server; 3. Verify replication status task in FE server event viewer; 4. Verify AB directory created in SFBSharedFolder (000000-00000*); 5.Verify AB directory content files (.photo/.lsabs/.dabs); 6.  Verify AB config (Get-CsAddressBookConfiguration); 7.Verify client config information for internal AB web url; 8. Test-CSAddressBookService; 9. Verify AB files downloaded in client ( GalContact.db & GalContact.db.idx);

  • Hi Dmitrii, how was it resolved within the 2 days? The issue is intermittent here, e.g today's it display all the contact pix but in later in the evening or next day appear some of contact without the pix.
