wmic output is showing different OS and actual OS is diffrent as a result wmic gives error RRS feed

  • By following wmic command on client gives following output but this System is Windows 2003 Standard Edition Server-


    C:\>wmic os get name
    Windows XP Home Edition Standard Edition|C:\WINDOWS|\Device\Harddisk0\Partition1


    While executing the osarchitecture-


    C:\>wmic os get osarchitecture
    Node - ACTSERVER
    Code = 0x80041017
    Description = Invalid query
    Facility = WMI


    Also below command is giving the error


    PS C: Get-WmiObject Win32_OperatingSystem
    Get-WmiObject : Invalid parameter
    At line:1 char:14

  • Sounds like yon  have a bootleg or counterfeit system.  Is it possible that someone tried to upgrade ot install XP over the system.

    These are not scripting issues. YOU need to contact Microsoft support or reinstall the system. I don't see how we can help you.
