KMS on Windows Server 2003 R2 with SP2 and Windows 2012 KMS Key RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

We are hosting KMS on a W2k3 r2 Sp2 and we need to install Windows 2012 and Windows 8 KMS key.

I have had a look on the internet and apparently this combination is not supported.

Is this correct or there are any other workarounds?

    Many thanks,

Your understanding is correct and there are no workarounds. You need to use Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 as a KMS host.

  • Hi

    Thanks for your answer.

I do have an additional question:having a KMS running on Windows 2008 R2 and activating Windows 2008 R2 and previous versions(VOLUME_KMS_R2_C Channel), will it be able to  still activate Windows 2k8 R2 and previous versions if i add Windows 2012 Key? I am afraid that adding the 2012 Key will screw up the activation for previous versions....

Please let me know your opinion.

  • Addition of 2012 key will not affect the activation of previous versions of Operating Systems.
