Issues by using external ntp time source on domain controller RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello i have done the following on my 2012 R2 domain in a command promt

    net stop w32time
    w32tm /config /syncfromflags:manual /manualpeerlist:"0.dk.pool.ntp.org"
    w32tm /config /reliable:yes
    net start w32time

    and when i type: w32tm /query /configuration i get

    ...

    [TimeProviders]

    NtpClient (Local)
    DllName: C:\Windows\system32\w32time.d
    Enabled: 1 (Local)
    InputProvider: 1 (Local)
    AllowNonstandardModeCombinations: 1 (L
    ResolvePeerBackoffMinutes: 15 (Local)
    ResolvePeerBackoffMaxTimes: 7 (Local)
    CompatibilityFlags: 2147483648 (Local)
    EventLogFlags: 1 (Local)
    LargeSampleSkew: 3 (Local)
    SpecialPollInterval: 900 (Local)
    Type: NTP (Local)
    NtpServer: 0.dk.pool.ntp.org (Local)

    ...

so everything seems fine, but when i look at the clock on the server, the time don't update to the correct time, can anyone explain why?

  • Hi Stig,

Post us the result after running the below command on your PDC.

    w32tm /stripchart /computer:<NTP server> /samples:<n> /dataonly

If this procedure fails, check the System event log for Time-Service errors. Check if NTP port 123 is opened in firewall to communicate with NTP server.

    Thanks,
