Overriding SQL Job monitor alerts to be critcal? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I have enabled sql job monitoring but I am looking for a way to make the alerts come in as critical.  I need to do this for at least some set of my jobs so I can bring them into our standard notification routines (email on critical events).  I figured this would be a simple override but I guess not.  I already show alert severity as critical yet the alert comes in as warning.

    Help?

    Thanks

  • Ahh well, I guess I found it.  I am overriding the following:

    Generates alert: True

    Alert on State: Warning

    Alert priority: High

    Alert Severity: Error

The last two are what I believe did it.  They are not different than the 'preoverriden' values but they seem to be working.

  • One thing you may notice is that the alert description for these is basically useless, especially if you forward alerts to a ticketing system and the end user isn't using the SCOM console.  They say something like, "Please see the alert context for details."  Other than that, they seem to work well.
