static ipv6 address on windows 2012 server don't want a global address

  • Hi i have server with Windows 2012 server on it.

I configured it with a static IPv6 address. The issue i have is the following:

Even with static address i get 3 adresses

    1. static (thats oke)
    2. DHCP (not oke)
    3. GLOBAL (not oke)

The problem is i only want the static addres.

Gettig rid of the dhcpv6 address was simple just type ipconfig /release6. and even after a reboot no dhcpv6 address anymore

So one down one to go, but the last one the global address is te problem:
I can do a netsh interface ipv6 set interface 12 routerdiscovery=disabled to get rid of the global but thats not the solution because i then also lose my Advertised gateway.

So i want routerdiscovery but no autoconf adres.

In linux you just add net.ipv6.conf.eth0.autoconf=0 to /etc/sysctl.conf is there a setting like this in windows server 2012 ?

If not is there a way the global adres is not registerd in dns?

With kind regards, Bas van den Dikkenberg

  • Hi Bas

Did you ever get a solution?

Do you know what the ipconfig /release6 does and why it works?

Does it change some settings? If there a GPO to do it, or is it only a command line?
