Sharepoint won't open default.aspx automatically RRS feed

  • Question

  • Our Intranet site is a Sharepoint (version 3.0) site that has been running great for about 2 years. I recently have been doing some work with PHP and tried to upgrade our IIS 6.0 server from PHP 5.2 to version 5.3.5 while in the process of doing so I managed to make it so our sharepoint site will not open our intranet site from http://intranet.localdomain.com you receive error 403 forbidden. On some users you are prompted to login but no matter who you login as you eventually get error 403. It is possible to go to http://intranet.localhost.com/default.aspx then the site logs on the user. Something else that has happened is that none of the standard themes will work. You can select a theme but they do not display on the site.

When I look under the sharepoint site properties and then documents, Default.aspx is listed at the topof the list.

A little background on the PHP... I was only testing with it. So at this point it is not as important as our Intranet site. The original version of PHP I started with was 5.2. I had that version working for about a year. I had heard that I should upgrade to 5.3.5 so I renamed my PHP 5.2 directory and PHP.ini file. I removed the extension mappings in isapi. Then I installed WPI, downloaded and installed fastcgi and php5.3.5. It is suppose to autoconfigure everything for you but I could not seem to make it work. In troubleshooting I went to the web sites folder in IIS and then properties, clicked on home directory and then configuration. In here I added a php file extension and applied the changes when I restarted that is when I started having trouble with sharepoint. I have since uninstalled the PHP and fast cgi. But still have the same issues.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated in troubleshooting these issues.

    Thanks,

    tdx2000

  • Hi,

It seems you have configured http://intranet.localdomain.com in intranet zone , what if you try to open default zone site which is with server name ?

Please check AAM settings under Central Admin > Operations

Also please check with other browsers.

  • Thank you for responding. I went back and looked at my post and to clarify when anyone goes to http://intranet.localdomain.com they get the 403 error. When they got to http://intranet.localdomain.com/default.aspx they can access the site. I just found that Central Admin is the same way. You have to type the specific starting page. I have looked at AAM and all the sharepoint sites (ie. our intranet site, SSPadmin, Central Admin) are set to the default zone. None of them are mapped to the intranet zone. What is causing them to not open default.aspx even though default.aspx is listed in documents under site properties?

  • I have managed to get PHP installed. But, now that I have had a chance to go thru the sharepoint site some I realize that what ever I did not only has the site so I can't change the themes but I also can't access any documents that are saved in the site and I can't access the site from http://intranet.localdomain.com I have to have the full path of the main page. Can anyone provide some information to troubleshoot these issues?
