want to look into content database and figure out what web app it belonged to RRS feed

  • Question

  • Someone dropped the web app.  So I have 6 content databases on the SQL Server server, that I can't account for and I would like to look into them to see which is the one I need to reconnect to.  What information within a content db identifies it?

  • Hi mardukes,

You can run the following stsadm command to get the content databases related to the 5 web applications which are still exist in the farm. Then the left one is the content database that is used by the deleted web application.

    Stsadm –o enumcontentdbs –url “http://webapp1
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262488(v=office.12).aspx

  • Create a test web application (or the web application that was dropped) and then one at a time attach the content databases and verify it contains what you expect (or need). If not, detach it.
