Powershell - capture a running process and reopen it and the same state ( after closing it ) on Remote Computer RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello,

I wonder if it is possible to save a running process information of outlook in order to reopen it at the same state.

The reason is, I have to copy a file in the outlook directory while renaming an exiting one before it in order to replace it, from time to time the file is being used by outlook, what im trying to do is to close outlook remotely and reopen it after 1-2 sec's.

I remember some old discussion about this topic but i cant find it  :)

at for now i can store the process, close it but i can only open a new session of that process ( outlook )

any idea how to do this ?

  • It is not possible to run Outlook remotely.  That is specifically excluded by Microsoft.  You can never successfully run any GUI program remotely if it has not been designed to be run that way.

What you are trying to do can be very disruptive and may crash the remote system or, at a minimum, make Outlook unusable.
