How to implement NTLM NT hash? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm not sure if I phrased this correctly, but an auditor has suggested my computer use the more secure NT hash for storing user passwords.  The auditor said..."the servers can store passwords using LM, the more secure NT, or both.  The servers are configured to allow the passwords to be stored usign both methods."  I've tried searching where to do this and all I keep reading is that you can disable the LM part in the registry on the computer.  But he said these are being stored using both methods on the server, and I can't figure out where to make this change to eliminate the LM hash from the server.  Someone please point me in the right direction.  Thanks.
