Emulate a phisical device on the virtual machine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ok,  I have a legacy system that require a phisical key connected to the server in order to work. it´s like a license device.

This is a 1995 system that it still work.   We need to move it to a virtual server, however it will not work if doesn´t detect the fisical device, so I am looking for a way to emulate on the configuration every device of the source computer. this fisical device is connected to a PCI port on the server, and the new server doesn´t even have that port.

Can this be done with any tool?

I know I can use disk2vhd v2.01 to create the hard disk info (windows installation, configuration, databases, etc), but I miss the hardware emulation part.

  • VMware ESXi has something called VMDirectPath.

Its the only thing close to what you want.
