  • Question

  • I've noticed in windows 7 that every time another user installs an application all the other users get the icons on their desktop as well, is there a way of preventing this from happening?

Answers

  • No, installing icons to all users does what the name suggested. Install the application only for the current user or tell the users to go to this folder:

    C:\Users\Public\Desktop

and move the icons to their desktop:

    C:\Users\<USERNAME> \Desktop

  • This will only occur if the person that install the program has an Administrator account.  Standard Users are not able to add icons to "all other users", and will only be able to install programs for their own use.
