Outlook 2013 - People Search - Custom Field

    Question

  • I am using Outlook 2013, and under my People list I created a custom field "Job Area". I use "Job Area" to enter text for the part of the City that person works in. When I try to use the Instant Search in the top right corner to search (i.e. "West" for west part of the city), no results are found. Essentially, the search function for People in Outlook 2013 doesn't search data in my custom column "Job Area". Is there a solution?

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

    >>When I try to use the Instant Search in the top right corner to search

The Search People box, which is in the top-right corner on the Home tab, only works if you type the person’s name (or part of their name). You can’t use this box, however, to search for things like phone numbers or the customized filed as your case.

Try to use the "Search Contacts" field (above your contacts list), and see if it works.

  • Yes, I have tried using the Search Contacts, and it does not search the custom fields.
