KMS activation with multiple domains. How to do it? RRS feed

  • Question

    Hi all,

We have KMS activated on our main domain.  All is working fine.  However, we have other domains that will eventually need a KMS and from what I know about KMS, a SRV record is needed for the machines to discover it.  I see 2 possibilities.

    1.  Create a new zone on the other domains which references the main domain (as long as the trust relationship is set).  Within that zone the create a record for the KMS box.  Would this even work?

    2.  Setup KMS on the seperate domains?  With that, can we use the same KMS key?

Am I even thinking on the correct path?

Any insight would be helpful, thanks.

  • I am guessing you already solved this, but in case anyone else finds this thread please review this technet article:

Particularly the section labeled, "Publishing to Multiple DNS Domains".

    Thanks for your time.
