Software distribution over WAN link RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear,

We would like to use SCE2007 but we have remote locations with only 2 Mb WAN link.

Is there a possibility to setup some kind of deployment server on the remote locations that still is managed with SCE2007

    Best regards,

SCE doesn't have any "role" that can be installed on the branch. But depending on how big brach you have, you can still use SCE.

*If the branch is small, yoy don't need to do anything since the clients use BITS that are very network friendly. You can aslo configure some BITS part by using GPO.

*If you use Vista on your clients, you have a new function in BITS (Peer caching ) thats you can configure so one or more Vista client download the updates etc and then the other clients download from this client/cliewns

*If you are using Microsft ISA, you can configure it to cash the BITS trafic so the clients download from the ISA instaed of the SCE server.

    Hope this help yoo!
