User is unable to send meeting updates, cannot match name from global address list RRS feed

  • Question

  • Have a user that has begun to have problems with older meeting requests in his calendar. When a meeting request is updated it would normally send out to all recipients; however the user receives a bounce back saying he does not have permission to do this.

When looking at the bounce message, it appears Outlook is not matching his name to a valid address in the system and is instead showing '/O=company/OU=AUK/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=CARMSTRONG'. The calendar entries show his name properly, but double clicking it to show the contact card shows that string. Recently created meetings do not exhibit this issue.

This looks very similar to users emailing cached email address entries (stored in NLK files) that are no longer valid and bouncing - the fix there is to either remove the cached entry or use the global address book. However this is not possible with meeting requests and you cannot change the meeting room organiser; you have to delete the meeting request and have the new organiser recreate the meeting.

    Ideas?

  • Is carmstrong an active employee? If so can you add this x500 email address to carmstrong's mailbox? Go into his mailbox, email address tab. Add new email address of type custom and enter /O=XSTRATA/OU=AUK/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=CARMSTRONG

    Thanks
