How to remove DPM agent from a Hyper-V Cluster Node needing rebuild RRS feed

  • Question

  • DPM 2012 r2 Rollup 5:  I need to rebuild one of the 4 nodes of our Hyper-V cluster.  The node has been removed from the cluster in VMM and the VMM agent uninstalled.

I've refreshed the Agent connection in DPM and it no longer lists the server as being a member of the cluster.  However when I try to uninstall the agent from the DPM console I receive error ID:292 "Your cannot uninstall protection agents from the protected computers until you remove all protected members from protection groups"

Can I ignore this and re install windows, name the server the same and manually reinstall the dpm agent?

Is there some way to properly remove the dpm agent first?

I do not want to have to stop protection for all our virtual machines just to rebuild one host.

  • After waiting 4 hours and trying it again... It worked flawlessly.  DPM must just have needed some time to process the changes through the database... Or maybe get through a checkpoint cycle to clear out the references to the server?
