Freeing up space after removing volume from PG RRS feed

  • Question

  • I had a PG that contained a file server....  In that PG I was backing up:

    1. C:
    2: D:
    3: System State

The D: drive was about 300GB of data on the server.  I have since moved that data off to another server so I no longer need to backup the D: Drive.  I modified my PG removed the D: drive from my PG, but there has been NO change in disk space on that storage pool.

When will that old data be removed and allowed to be used in unallocated space?

  • Hi,

When you removed the D: volume from protection it may have gone into an inactive protection group.  If that is the case, you need to remove the D: drive from inactive protection and delete the replica and that will free up the disk space in the storage piil.
