Grouping one particular category from multiple projects into one sheet RRS feed

  • Question

  • If I have multiple projects that all have an inspection or programming timeline, is there a way to group all those timelines on one page? That way the inspectors could see all tasks that need to be completed for all the open projects, programmers could know when all projects are due, etc.

  • Hi,

    Insert the column "Project"

  • A couple of options:

    1) Develop a permanent or ad hoc master project with each subproject.  Filter
    on the appropriate tasks.
    2) Use the Save As to Excel option to create a master Excel list of key tasks
(consider recording it as a macro).

If you're using Project Server, I might recommend a custom SSRS or Excel
    report.

  • In the master it could be as simple as turning on AutoFilters and then clicking the autofilter drop down on the field where you specify that a task is "programming" and then filtering for "programming".

  • Is there a way to create a filter that will put all "programming" tasks side by side on one sheet? I figured out how to make subprojects, but I can't figure out how to make the filter work correctly.

  • Great, thanks! One follow up question...is there a way to make each project number appear next to each line of programming, inspection, etc.? So that the programmers know which project it is?
