Exchange 2013 and outlook 2010 inbox emails received editable


  • Hi,

    We are experiencing a strange behavior in outlook 2010. Many of the emails in outlook inbox received in edit mode. In the reading pane itself showing editable (Please check the below image), so we cannot do normal actions like forward or reply properly. I have already tried delete and create a new outlook profile, and also tried deleting this mail box and user in active directory and created new AD user and new mailbox in exchange server with same old information, but same issue happen. Your immediate support shall be highly appreciated.

  • Does this happen for each email that you select?
    Which add-ins do you have installed?
    Do you have any VBA macros?
    Can you repro the issue in Outlook Safe Mode?

    Thank you for reply.

    1. No this does not happen for each email that I select. It is happens with random emails. it is like 10%. Same user if he accessing emails via OWA, almost 80% emails having this issue. Some of these editable inbox emails in OWA looks normal in outlook but some are not.

  • What are the exact build numbers of Outlook and Exchange?

    From your listed add-ins, the Kaspersky one is one that can alter messages. Since it also happens in OWA, it sounds more like it happens server-side. Do you have any virus scanner running there or any other 3rd party tool installed which integrates directly with Exchange?
