View issue opening projects from PS 2010 with Project Pro RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a couple of users who are opening their projects from Project Server 2010 using Project Pro and when Project Pro opens it is a small bar in the middle of the screen.  This is requiring them to Maximize the window each time they open a project.  Additionally, when the window maximizes for them to view the project schedule, the Gantt window is 95% of the viewing space.  No other users are having either of these issues and their projects open fine.  Suggestions for troubleshooting?

  • Michael, I've actually recently made a modification to the enterprise global and it didn't seem to affect how project professional opens on these user's PCs.  The Enterprise Global shouldn't behave differently on some user's pc than it does on others though, should it?  As I mentioned, for 99% of our user base who opens projects from PS2010 Project Pro opens as normal, but for these 2 users it opens as a small window/bar in the middle of their screen.  ANy other thoughts you can share would be great.  Thanks!

  • Hi,

if only part of the users are effected the cause could be that the cached global is corrupt. You can delete the cached copy if you paste the following statement in the Windows Explorer on the affected clients and delete the entire content:

    %AppData%\Microsoft\MS Project\14

Make sure no project is checked out from the client and that you don 't have any modifications in the global.mpt which you want to protect.

After that make sure that you are running the latest build of Project and Project Server, e.g. SP1 + CU 02/13
