450 4.7.1 Client host rejected: cannot find your reverse hostname, [xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx]

    Question

  •

    hi,

recently my e2k7 edge server when sending mail to some domain e.g. HP i got this rejected message "450 4.7.1 Client host rejected: cannot find your reverse hostname, [xxx.xxx.xxx.xx]". Any idea what's wrong?

In our system we use different public address for incoming and outgoing while outgoing public IP address not necessary to have any reserve dns name.. because the incoming IP address already has mx and reserved dns entries...

  • Your outgoing IP needs to resolve with a reverse lookup. So you'll need a PTR record and an A record for your outgoing connection.

  • You using a new IP or perhaps the recpient(s) in question just turned on reverse lookup checking.
