So I thought the USB issue was solved but it's not... RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I originally attributed the issue (requiring driver updates for USB devices through device manager) to sysprep, but that really doesn't seem to be the culprit. I am unable to replicate the issue consistently, but it seems to only happen after installing SS 2.5 with WDP and it has even popped up on machines that are still running the old Windows Shared Computer Toolkit. Has anybody else run into this? Invariably, the Flash drives are always accessible by other machines at the location that are not running SS or the Shared Computer Toolkit.

  • From my point of view, I consider the issue is not much to do with Windows SteadyState. The only USB related restriction in Windows SteadyState is Prevent write access to USB storage devices under Set Computer Restrictions. By default, this option is not enabled.
