Client Prerequisites update - client could reboot RRS feed

  • Question

  • The System Center Team Blog was just updated and notes that the client prerequisites listed in Prerequisites for Windows Client Deployment in Configuration Manager have been updated to reflect that the installation of the external dependency Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable version 10.0.40219.1 may require the computer to be restarted.  I have been operating up to this point under the notion that client distribution wouldn't cause a reboot and I have been communicating that to our user community.  So possibly this has been causing some computers to enter into a pending reboot state and I haven't known about it.

How can I easily identify computers that could either potentially need a reboot after installing the client or computers that are in a pending reboot state after the client and dependency install?

  • Not experienced it myself but here's some info from Anoop on the subject.

  • I concur with Paul, I've never seen a client reboot. I have heard of multiple cases of DPs reboot when upgraded to R2 though which can cause pain.
