App-V 5.0 - Virtualized Sage (Simply Accounting) Application Won't Run Unless You Grant User Local Admin Rights RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi there,

We've sequenced Sage Simply Accounting 2012 Premium. If user is a member of the Domain Users group it will work on the test workstation only if you add that user to the local Administrators group and let that user run the virtualized up for the first time. The user will be able to run the virtualized application later even if he is removed from the local Administators, but remains in the Domain Users group.

    1. Would you be so kind to advise what could be the issue with that?
    2. And how to resolve it with out adding domain users to the local Administrators group on each and every workstation with App-V client installed?

    Additional troubleshooting:

    1. The virtualized Sage application will crash if the above mentioned manipulations are not performed.
    2. No new files or folders are created when the user with local Administrators privileges successfully starts the virtualized Sage application.
    3. After user with local Administrators privileges successfully starts the virtualized Sage application and his local Administrators privileges are revoked, you may delete his user profile, but he still will be able to run the virtualized Sage application as only Domain User.
    4. Actually, as tests showed, the user with local Administrators privileges does not have to completely run the virtualized Sage application. As soon as start-up prompt "Use sample company/Create new company/etc." appeared it can be cancelled. After that local Administrators privileges can be revoked and the same user will be able start and run Sage from the beginning to the end.
    5. Modification of the local security policy and matching the Administrators rights there did not fix the issue.

Thank you very much for your time and attention in advance!
