    So we are doing a proof of concept on using WDS to deploy our images.

     

    1. I have set up my answer file to auotmatically join the machine to the domain ... it does not.

        Here is what I would like... the answer file to ask for a machine name (because those are specific to the user and location).. Then join the machine to the domain and place the machine in a staging OU. I also need the setup to ask me for time zone.

    Why dont you use MDT 2010 for this? (Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2010)

    Using MDT with WDS - You will still be able to deploy the images using WDS (Boot.wim).

    Analogy - "MDT 2010 is the Cook, and WDS is the delivery man"

    I am all for it ... will MDT build the WIM with all the software I need prestaged... and will I be able to tell it to join the domain?

    Yes, if you are a Newbie at MDT, start with this. Download the Deployment CD and have a look at the videos etc
