WMP Won't Load in IE RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Whenever I click on a media clip in IE the page says "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."
However, if I right-click and save the media clip WMP player will open it.

I'm not sure when this started happening, but WMP used to open as soon as I clicked on a media clip, without requiring me to save it.

I've already tried resetting WMP as my default media player.

  • I figured it out.

Even though I had set WMP as the default program, VLC had kept some...
I uninstalled VLC and now everything works as it should.

    Thanks for everyone's advice.

  • Hi

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools / Internet Options / Programs Tab.

Click the Manage - Add ons button.

In the Show menu, select 'Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer'.

Find the Windows Media Player in the list and select it.

Click the 'Enable' button at the bottom of the dialog.

Click OK / Apply / OK.

    Exit and restart Internet Explorer.

    Hope this helps.

  • Thanks for the help, but unfortunately that wasn't it.
    WMP was already active.

  • Hi

    Sorry for the delay.

The closest I can come to any documentation on this behavior is the following article.

You cannot watch streaming video or download a file after you install Windows Internet Explorer 7:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934275/

Follow the instructions in that article to see if this resolves the problem.

If this does not fix the issue, I recommend asking this question in the following support groups.

    Hope this helps.
