How to use replication to copy data from one SharePoint database to the other? RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    1. I need to copy or synchronize 2 libraries between 2 different servers. Here are more details:
    2.  I have an document lib form that is submitted to a document library, Lib 1..
    3.  The users will have the ability to add new items to Lib 1.
    4.  At the end of each day, or may be every hour or so, I need to copy the newly created items or sync Lib 1 with another library on a different server.
    5.  The content type will be available in both servers.
    6.  Replicating Database: Use replication to copy data from one SharePoint database to the other

  • Ok Bhakti,

You can try Content Deployment option from central admin :

Central Administration > Operations > Content Deployment Settings

or you can also try 3rd party tool on codeplex

    http://www.codeplex.com/SPDeploymentWizard

  • both server will be in one farm or i can go for different different farm with different database.

so that means when somebody is uploading document in server1 Docuement Lib that will be also added in Server2 DL.

  • Hi Bhakti,

As I have mentioned earlier you can try with Content Deployment wizard as you have said both servers are in same farm.

And under content deployment wizard there is a scheduling option as well so you can schedule replication @ the end of day as per your requirement.

    @ Mike,

I didn't ask for the any training.

Don't understand why you have put this Moderator note in my reply.
