Implementing And/Or Logic in a Criteria Based Group RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how to implement and and/or logic (not just and or just or, but both) in a criteria specification for group membership.  I can see that the group criteria definition gives you the option of one or the other, and not both.  But, then I started thinking about sets.  Basically, constructing sets for the "and" portion and using the group criteria screen to do the "or" portion (or visa-versa).  But, I don't see an obvious way to reference sets in a group membership criteria.  I suppose, I could just construct everything in sets, with sets reference sets, but even if I do that, I can't figure out how to reference a set in the group membership criteria screen.

Anybody tried to do something like this from within the portal?  I have this process working from a table in a database (I have virtually unlimited logic methods available there).  But, I'd like to move all this group management out of the database and into the portal.

    I'm just brain storming

    Thanks,

  • Greg-

If you use the Add Subcondition link you can nest ANDs/ORs in your group criteria.

  • You want to find : "an obvious way to reference sets in a group membership criteria"

I suggest doing it this way:  'Resource ID' IN / Not IN <my set>

In this way you can even add users and groups as members.

    Exaple:

    ALL of those:

    'Resource ID' IN 'set: employee'

'Resource ID' IN 'set: employee's groups'

    'Resource ID' IN 'set: employee-extra'

'Resource ID' Not IN 'set: employee - blacklist'
