Update Rollup installation RRS feed

  • Question

  • I need to install the latest Update roll-up (UR) for my SCSM 2012 R2 system. According to my research, the latest release is UR 14. Do I have to install each intermediate update or can I "jump" to the latest version?

    Also, would someone point me to a recently updated resource listing the latest update levels for each product? What I've seen so far is

    SCSM 2012 R2 ->> UR 14

    SCSM 2012 R2 self-service portal  ->> UR 8 with hotfix 4

    SCORCH 2012 R2 ->> UR 14

    SQL 2012 Standard Edition ->> SP3

    thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

  • Hi Jay,

    the Update Rollups for System Center are cumulative, meaning that each update contains all previously updated files and as you guessed you need to install only the latest one. Here also the official Microsoft explanation of this. From:

    Description of the standard terminology that is used to describe Microsoft software updates

    • Update rollup

      Definition: A tested, cumulative set of hotfixes, security updates, critical updates, and updates that are packaged together for easy deployment. A rollup generally targets a specific area, such as security, or a component of a product, such as Internet Information Services (IIS).

    About finding the latest Update Rollup for a product: There isn't any official Microsoft Site to check the latest one, but you can either search online with the product name and "Update Rollup" and the filter by date or (is also wjat I do) check it on this site, which is updates immediately as soon as a new UR comes up:

    I hope I was able to help.
