d-link dwm 157 modem wont connect to the internet on Windows 8.1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I just can not find a fix for this. The modem installed with latest firmware and system states the device is working properly. The connection manager shows the service provider and signal strenthg, however, when i click connect it says dial up failed. On windows xp i managed to connect through network settings. I have USSD and sms functions. all info regarding dlink seems to be very outdated. I suspect it has something to do with switchmode, so that windows will recognise it as a modem and a usb stick, i could be wrong. Please assist, I have trying for hours to find a solution to migrate to another laptop. Thanks.

  • Hi,

Could you please tell us the exact error message when you fail to dial-up? We would like to suggest you follow the link below to recreate the dial up again to test the issue.

Also, uninstall your anti-virus software and turn off Windows Firewall temporarily.

If it doesn't work, please use the ping command below in Command Prompt.

    ping 127.0.0.1

If it fails to ping, please follow the steps in the link below to reset TCP/IP.

    Good luck to fix it.
