project server 2010: creating pwa site over an existing site collection RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to create the pwa site over an already existing sharepoint site collection instead of pwa being the site collection itself.

    Thanks,
    George

  • I'll go with "no."  PWA is always a site collection.  That being said, PWA doesn't have to be the top level site collection in the Web App - in fact, it shouldn't be as that introduces all sorts of technical issues.

I agree with Gokul though, why would you want to do this?

  • Hi George,

The answer is vested in very specific configuration between SharePoint (Site Collection/Content DB's) and Project Server Web Applications. May I ask the reason for this attempt?

    Thank you,

    Best Regards,

    Gokul

  • I need to do this because in my organization, there is already a project website build over sharepoint. Now we need to add pwa over this already existing project website.

  • Do you mean delete the existing website, or add PWA to the site?   For instance if your site is http://myprojectserver, you can always add http://myprojectserver/pwa.

What URL do you have, and what do you want PWA to be?
