  Hello Mathan,

  As per Microsoft support article http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2728964

  Sharepoint Server 2007 and WSS 3 is not supported on Windows Server 2012.

  you might want to go with SharePoint 2013 SP1 which is supported on Windows Server 2012 R2.
