Visio - sequencing multiple editions. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Is there a microsoft prescriptive guidance for running multiple editions of Visio 2010 on App-V client?

We use KMS activation for licensing. Do I have to run Offvirt multiple times with switches Visioprem=1,VisioPro=1 and VisioStd=1 (on client)?

    Appreciate your help.

  • Hello,

Visio can only be licensed as one type per machine you deploy it to. The package will adapt to the highest licensing you install (using MAK or KMS) using the Office 2010 App-V Deployment kit.

  • Thanks for your repy.

Does that mean I can run all the editions of Visio on the same client by just installing office 2010 AppV kit with VisioPrem=1?

  • Hello,

It will allow you to run the Premium-edition (if that property is correct according to the documentation)

  • If a Visio Premium product key will work for Visio Standard edition, then yes, but this is unlikely.

App-V doesn't change the licensing requirements for applications and Visio is still licensed per-device.

  • Thanks for your quick reply. We use KMS for licensing and have licenses for all editions.

Users need multiple editions of visio in their machines through App-V. Would you have any suggestion?

Just trying to understand - is it that by design running multiple editions of Visio is not possible on same machine though there is a license for each.

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

It is per design. A machine can only run one edition of Visio if it is compliant.
