internal emails delayed RRS feed

  • Question

  • For the past several weeks we have had a single user complain that his internal emails had been delayed.  Usually this was a delay of no more than 15 minutes.  I confirmed that he was not offline and not in cached mode.

Yesterday we experienced a total non-delivery of all internal emails.  This morning all of the non-delivered/delayed emails delivered.  We've got exchange server 2007 running on SBS 2008.  Our internal emails are all on the exchange server and external is through POP/SMTP.

Message Tracking within the Exchange Management Console shows NO activity between 2010/03/08 11:47:49 and 2010/03/09 09:28:29.  108 messages were timestamped between 9:28:29 and 9:28:32.

For one example email the stats were: Submit StoreDriver 3/08/2010 9:28:30; Deliver 3/08/2010 9:28:31; Receive 3/08/2010 9:28:30;.  HOWEVER, when I go look in the actual log file for the same message it shows that the messages CreationTime was 2010-03-08T20:20:42.

We had no problems receiving or (to the best of our knowledge) sending emails externally.

Everything is working now but I have no idea what happened.  And to make top it off, I'm just the backup IT guy, our head honcho is on vacation, and  I feel I'm in over my head about now.

  • You need to keep an eye on your HUB transport service, AS i understand that all role is assigned on same BOX.

What is mean of actual log file ?? .. Are you seeing different time when seeing header message in received mail.

You can do below action for collect log to see if get any clue.

1: Run EXBPA against sevrer and see report
2: Enable diagnostic logging for Transport service

  • Hi,

When this issue reoccurs, you first need to confirm which queue does the message hang. And whether any useful message come up in the event log or follow the queue?

    Thanks

    Allen
